Being in relationship has many gifts and many challenges. Perhaps sometimes it can feel like you are fighting about the wrong thing, or that you are actually fighting for something deeper than what is being said. Or perhaps you feel stuck and there are things that feel unsurmountable to talk about.
Couples therapy creates space for you and your significant other to look more closely at what is challenging you in the relationship, and where each of you are struggling. Receiving help from a professional who can attend to the needs of both people, and the relationship as a whole, can greatly support a better understanding of each other, more effective communication, voicing important things that are being left unsaid, as well as building healthier ways of dealing with differences. Many couples find that it also offers relief from relationship tensions during the week, consolidating tough conversations to weekly sessions.

I work with seasoned parents as well as couples in the perinatal period (pregnancy and postpartum) who are becoming parents for the first time or are welcoming additional children into their family. Parenting is a unique challenge for couples, putting a lot of additional pressures on the relationship. Just finding time to think and talk about your relationship as well as your parenting concerns is very hard to do. Sessions are a weekly dedicated time to talk about big issues and small, and a place to work to make changes towards more relational and familial fulfillment.
